Community producers

Honorarium: £1000 | Part time| London/Remote

Are you interested in curating community histories? Are you passionate about African and Caribbean arts, heritage and culture?

House of Dread is looking to recruit a group of community producers for a new project aimed at documenting and curating histories around St. Agnes Place – London’s longest running squat. Located in Kennington, South London, St Agnes Place was a collection of building co-operatives acquired by squatters during the late 1960s. Though demolished in 2007, St Agnes Place became a central meeting point for the Rastafari community in Britain. The project will draw from community conversations and oral histories to create a creative response that examines how and why St Agnes Place evolved as a thriving hub of Rastafari activity.

What is in it for you:

• Training in archival research, curatorial programming and oral history

• Collaborating with others to curate content for digital platforms and public events

• A chance to learn how arts and heritage can be used as a tool for community development

• An honorarium equivalent to London Living Wage

Commitment:

• Attend 4x workshops and event between June – to August 2024 in London

• Recording oral histories with people who have lived experiences connected to St Agnes Place

• Collaborative, creative and positive outlook

• Passion for African and Caribbean heritage

To Apply

Please fill out the application form by Monday 3rd June 2024 23:59.
